Bringing Back Brunch
Greater Boston Restaurant Brings Family Back to the Table with Traditional Sunday Brunch with a Retro Twist
WHAT: "Tryst" a metro-Boston gastro-pub located in Arlington, MA which serves unique and smart-sourced classic items riddled with flirtatious innuendos, is launching its new "Retro Brunch" on Sunday, January 8th, 2012.
Highlighting breakfasts of the past and throwback desserts like their house-made Twinkies and Devil Dogs, guests can look forward to stick-to-your-ribs, retro- fueled fare with culinary whim. Enjoy deep-caloric indulgences such as Annie's French Toast ($10) made with warm Portuguese sweet bread and cinnamon cider apples sending you in to a blissful sugar-shock, or for the hearty coal miner in us all, the Tryst Steak & Eggs hits the spot ($17) featuring grilled steak, two eggs, crispy potatoes & hollandaise, likely to make you head back to your warm bed rather than back to the mines.
If you find you're too much of a "foodie" to let yourself go simple, there's no need to fret. Chef Paul Turano will be serving his signature creative cuisine such as the from- scratch Lemon & Ricotta Pancakes, a house favorite for ($10) or Hand Cut Tagliatelle Carbonara with poached farm egg, crispy prosciutto, pecorino romano & cracked pepper ($12 half order/ $19 full).
It's not all about the food though. Guests can kick back and enjoy classic ‘50’s and ‘60’s music all morning and afternoon--bringing you back to a simpler time.
And what would brunch be without handcrafted cocktails! Enjoy the “Father Knows Best Headache Powders” made with, yup you guessed it….Ovaltine--for those recovering from an evening of too much time travel, and the “Leave it to Beaver,” a blend of Bluecoat Gin, Cointreau, citrus, cream, and soda, both available for $12.

Good Luck with this wonderful event! Greg Massialas, July 4, 2008 1980, 1984, 1988, USA Olympian 2008 Olympic Coach, Fencing, USA
What a fantastic idea! This is just the kind of event that needs to be incorporated in every Division across the country. The interface with the community, and charitable health issues is a win- win proposition for fencing. I intend to “steal” this idea and make it an annual event in our Division. Thanks to Mike Tarascio for sharing his inspiration. Wayne Johnson, July 6, 2008 1980 US Olympic Epee Team
I am absolutely delighted to see that we are having this type of competition. I believe that this can be the start of a very important trend. Let’s keep it going! Dan Dechaine, July 4, 2008 U.S. Fencing Hall of Fame U.S. Olympic Team Armorer 1968, 1976, 1988, 1992
We should all support wonderful events in support of health issues like this one. Mr. Tarascio has conceived a great idea. Let’s follow the example of Major League Baseball and others. Peter Burchard, July 5, 2008
Michael, The Fence Against Breast Cancer event is a fantastic idea. As not only an Olympic fencer but also as a Public Health Professor at a major university, it is well-needed help for a very worthy cause. Best of Luck! Nikki Franke, July 5, 2008 1976, 1980 US Olympic Teams
This is a terrific event! The publicity benefits everyone. A win-win situation. Ed Richards, July 4, 2008 U.S. Fencing Hall of Fame U.S. Olympian Fencing Master
What a wonderful idea. Its great that we can finally give something back and raise money and awareness for this disease. Anything we can do we should do Michael D’Asaro, July 4, 2008 1996 Olympic Team
Given the widespread and growing support for the Komen Foundation’s work on breast cancer awareness and research funding, bringing the fencing community into the fight is not only laudable but inspired. Might oaks from small acorns grow, and this event is sure to generate interest and, ultimately, the tangible benefit of funds to contribute to the goal of eliminating breast cancer. As I remember my mother’s final year dealing with the consequences of breast cancer, I am very pleased to see my other family, the fencing community, take up the cause. I wish the organizers, sponsors, and competitors all the best in this wonderful endeavor. Peter A. Harmer, PhD, MPH, ATC, FACSM Chief Medical Officer – USFA Medical Commission - FIE

Instead of attending an awkward 20 year high school reunion, Collin Chace and Seth Lepore decided to tour their one-man comedies in tandem. These award-winning actors use chameleon-like abilities to shape-shift between characters for a laugh yourself to tears look at mental health and the happiness industry. The Rock N Wrestle Road Show In Chace's "one-man/multiple personality" Rock N Wrestle Roadshow, folks ranging from a potty-mouthed heiress to an 8 year-old-poet to an American civil rights leader-turned-British tube station announcer have been released from a mental health ward. Rejoining the outside world with their new perspectives on race relations, gay marriage, war, and the big issues of our time, it's a celebration of folks who've been written off as deranged, and affirms them as essential voices for social change. SuperHappyMelancholyexpialidocious Lepore turns the happiness industry on it's head to unearth the farcical ideology of the positive thinking movement. From Texas megachurches turned motivational hothouses, to the latest testament of self-actualization from Oprah's Book Club, nothing is safe from Lepore's scrutinizing looking glass. He uses his fecund observations of our fascinating hang-ups with happiness to expose the true cost of this ongoing pursuit. Living in the skin of their characters, Lepore and Chace combine their masterful skills as playwrights and actors to shine a light on the overlooked figures of society with a wry grace.
